Death toll due to adverse weather rises to 6

COLOMBO (News1st); The death toll from accidents caused by heavy showers and strong winds has increased to six.

The victims include three people from the Puttalam district and two people from the Anuradhapura district.

11 people have sustained injuries due to the adverse weather conditions.

The Disaster Management Center said 34,880 people belonging to 15 districts were affected by the adverse weather.

1,246 houses were damaged and five more were destroyed.

The DMC said a special program is in place to provide relief to the victims.
