COLOMBO (News 1st); The Wildlife Department has called for an expert report from the National Zoological Department on the insects caught by two foreigners from the Yala National Park.
The Wildlife Department said that samples of the insect-repellent fungus used to catch the insects have been sent to the Coroner's Office for further investigations.
Two Italians were recently arrested by wildlife officials in Yala National Park for catching endemic insects.
They were remanded after being produced before the Tissamaharama Magistrate Court.
Warden of Yala Park, Manoj Vidyaratne said that they have killed animals such as butterflies, snakes and rice husks and stored them in bottles.
