23 Killed in Sri Lanka Road Accidents Over New Year Period

Sri Lankan police reported 23 fatalities in road accidents across the island nation during the recent New Year holiday period from April 12th-14th.

8 people died in road accidents on the 12th of April.

4 people lost their lives in accidents reported from various locations on the 13th of April.

The deadliest day, with 11 fatalities, including a young boy (age 8), in accidents across Hettipola, Passellawa, Haliela, Mahianganaya, Kirindiwela, Ambalantota, Pugoda, Matara, and Tanamalvila on the 14th of April

Police attributed many of these accidents to drunk driving and speeding.

They urged the public to exercise caution on the roads and avoid these dangerous practices.
