COLOMBO (News 1st) - The no-confidence motion against the Speaker is set to be debated in Parliament on Tuesday (19).
The no-confidence motion against Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena was jointly submitted by members of the opposition over their dissatisfaction over Speaker’s handling of the Online Safety Bill.
Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera said the debate will be held on Tuesday (19) and Wednesday (20).
The vote for the motion following the debate will take place on Wednesday (20) at 4:30 PM.
The Speakers Office said that Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena is expected to make a special statement following the vote, as he cannot participate in the debate.
