Will continue Operation 'Yukthiya' with President's blessings -Tiran

COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles said Operation 'Yukthiya' will continue with the President's blessings.

He expressed these views during a meeting with the Bandarawela Community Police Unit.

Minister Alles said Operation 'Yukthiya' faced various challenges including international pressure, adding he would not allow the operation to be halted.

He stressed, however, that during his term as Minister of Public Security, he would fulfill his duties for the people of Sri Lanka, and not to please the international community.

Minister Tiran Alles said Operation 'Yukthiya' also faced challenges from within the country, adding that the operation will not be stopped despite pressure from various factions.

The Public Security Minister vowed to eradicate drugs and underworld criminal gangs.
 
Speaking during the meeting Acting Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon said within one and a half months the Police force will be able to eradicate heroin, ICE, and other dangerous drugs.
