COLOMBO (News 1st); The Jala Jana Rally, dedicated to safeguarding Sri Lanka's rich hydraulic heritage and critical water resources, successfully culminated its efforts on Navam Full Moon Poya Day at the revered Devinuwara Sacred Grounds.

Sri Lanka boasts a unique tapestry of water sources, from cascading mountains feeding its rivers to the ancient network of Wewa's.

In order to protect this heritage and preserve it for the future, the Jala Jana Rally, started a journey in Anuradhapura, the birthplace of Sri lankas hydraulic civilization.

Weaving through vibrant villages and imposing concrete jungles, the Jala Jana Rally navigated the ebb and flow of public cheer, collecting precious water from wewas, rivers and the sea of Sri Lanka.

The golden essence of water collected from multiple sources in Sri Lanka via the Jala Jana Rally was amassed in a singular location.

The Jala Jana Rally, culminated today at the sacred grounds of the Utpalawarna Sri Vishnu Temple in Devinuwara.

Thilina Madushanka Abeyratne, the Basnayake Nilame of the Utpalawarna Sri Vishnu Temple commended the rally's significance: "It's a great deed, commencing from the sacred grounds of Anuradhapura and concluding here. I appreciate the efforts of Sirasa Media Network for aligning this program with the Namami Sirasa initiative."

Chevaan Daniel, Group Director of Capital Maharaja Group, elaborated on the rally's concept: "The Jala Jana Rally, envisioned by our Chairman Sashi Rajamahendran, highlights aspects of our proud heritage, particularly the ancient Wewa civilizations and water sources. We undertook a challenging journey, collecting water from remote areas across Sri Lanka, to bring it here to this sacred ground. This reflects our commitment to protecting our culture and heritage, ensuring our place in history."

Our nation's remarkable ingenuity in water management, even before the rise of empires, stands as a testament to its early advancement.

The Jala Jana Rally, forever etched in the hearts of Sri Lankans, stands as a testament to the nation's unwavering commitment to preserving its vibrant and proud ancient hydraulic heritage.
