COLOMBO (News 1st); An amber heat index advisory was issued for several areas on Friday (23).
The advisory issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre stated heat index, the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘caution’ level at some places in the North-western and North-central provinces and the Gampaha, Colombo, Hambantota and Trincomalee Districts.
It requested people to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities, and wear lightweight and white or light-colored clothing.
The public was also requested to check up on the elderly and the sick and to refrain from leaving children unattended.
