COLOMBO (News 1st); Retired Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, former Chief of Staff of the Army, has officially joined the Samagi Jana Balawega.
Today, he met with the Opposition Leader, Sajith Premadasa.
Major General Liyanage of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps served as the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Commander, Overall Operations Command before being appointed to the second highest office in the Army.
His illustrious military career includes numerous key positions, notably as the Commander of the Western Security Forces Headquarters.
The Samagi Jana Balawega has announced that Major General Liyanage will assume the role of Head of the party's Anti-Corruption Policy and Implementation Unit.
In addition, he was appointed as a consultant for the anti-corruption campaign spearheaded by Sajith Premadasa, the Opposition Leader.
