Cops Suspended After Suspects Fall Ill While in Custody at Woulfendhal Station

COLOMBO (News 1st): Three officers, including the Acting OIC of Woulfendhal Police Station, have been interdicted.

Police Spokesman & DIG, Attorney-at-Law Nihal Thalduwa, confirmed that the suspensions were related to an incident involving two suspects who were arrested in connection with a recent shooting. 

It was reported that the suspects subsequently suffering from poisoning and are currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.

The suspects collapsed in their cell after consuming packets of milk, which were given to them by an individual who came to visit them while in the police cell. 

The circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation.

The officers involved in the case have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
