Brutal Beliatte killings: Two more suspects arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st); Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of five individuals including Leader of the Ape Jana Bala Party Saman Perera, in Beliatte.

The duo were arrested by a group of officers of the Police Special Task Force.

Police said the 39-year-old wife of a retired Navy personnel and her 72-year-old father were arrested.

21 grams and 350 milligrams of heroin were seized from the suspect's possession.

During interrogations, it was revealed that the suspect's husband, an ex-Navy personnel, was the main shooter involved in this murder.

Investigations revealed that he went to Beliatte on the 21st of January, carried out the shootings with another gunman on the 22nd, and fled to Dubai.

Flight tickets were arranged for the two suspects by an individual named Nipuna in Dubai.

The Police STF said the killings were carried out based on the instructions of Harendra Gunatilaka alias Harsha, who is currently hiding in Dubai, and is a close associate of 'Kosgoda Sujee'.

Following interrogations of the suspects, a 23-year-old female suspect who aided and abetted in the killing of Dulaj Tharanga, a former member of the Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha, near the Seenigama Devalaya last year, was also arrested in Kiribathgoda.

The Police STF said 5 grams and 580 milligrams of ICE were also found in her possession.
