COLOMBO (News 1st): Independence Day celebrations in Sri Lanka were marred as parachutes collided during rehearsals at Galle Face Green, forcing three military personnel to make emergency landings.
According to Major General Rasika Kumara, the military media spokesman, the incident occurred when parachutes of the skydivers entangled.
He said that two skydivers managed to make an emergency landing on the roof of a nearby building, while the other landed on Galle Face Green.
All three personnel were promptly taken to the nearest hospital for medical evaluation.
While one has been admitted to the army hospital for further observation, the other two were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.
