Sri Lanka Police Nab Senior Citizen For Extortion

COLOMBO (News 1st); A 70-year-old resident of Mabola, Minuwangoda, has been arrested for allegedly extorting money through phone threats.

The suspect is accused of demanding a ransom of Rs. 1.5 million from a victim.

The investigation began after the victim filed a complaint with the Minuwangoda police, reporting the payment of Rs. 500,000/- to the suspect under duress. 

According to the police, the suspect posed as a member of a criminal gang to intimidate the victim.
