COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Railways said a project was launched to repair railway lines using new tracks.

Chief Engineer of Sri Lanka Railways H.M.K.W. Bandara said the Kelani Valley railway line will be renovated under the first phase.

He added that 10,000 tracks imported from China and 7,000 tracks which were removed during renovation of the railway lines between Anuradhapura and Omanthai will be used for this purpose.

All trains are currently operating under speed limits, due to dilapidated railway tracks.
