Water for next farming season, next month - says Mahaweli Authority

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka has announced that water for crops during the maha season will be released from the 5th of October. 

Deputy Director General of the authority, Nilantha Dhanapala explained that initially, that water will be released to the Yodha Ela via Kala Wewa. 

This water supply will benefit areas including  MahaIluppallama, Kattiyawa, Kala Weva, and Ipalogama. 

He added that water for the purposes of irrigation will be made available to all areas from the 1st of November onwards
