Speed Limits to change - DMT

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Transport and Highways has made the decision to update the speed limit orders for the island nation's road system. 

This decision comes as a response to the challenges faced in properly implementing the current speed limits in Sri Lanka, which were gazetted in 2012 and are currently in effect.

Urbanization and other factors have created significant hurdles in enforcing these speed limits effectively.

Indradeepa Yogachandra, a legal officer from the Department of Motor Traffic, says that a committee will be formed to work on updating these orders.
