Showery condition in the South West to intensify

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Meteorology forecasts the prevailing showery condition in the South West to intensify over the next three days.

Showers can be expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North Western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

Fairly heavy showers of about 75mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Polonnaruwa, Vavuniya, and Mullaitivu districts during the evening or night.

The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
