10 Sea Turtle carcasses on Lankan shores in recent days

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Wildlife Conservation said that an investigation is underway after sea turtle carcasses washed up on Sri Lanka's western coast. 

Sri Lankan authorities said that the carcasses of around 10 sea turtles washed up on the coastal belt between Wellawatte and Galle Face.

The Director General of the Department of Wildlife Conservation said that facts were presented to the courts as well.

On Tuesday (22), the Fort Magistrate ordered the Department of Wildlife Conservation to conduct a postmortem into the deaths of the sea turtles, and provide a report.

The National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency revealed that 10 sea turtles belonging to the same species were found dead on Sri Lankan shores.

NARA said that water samples from the sea area will be obtained for inspection.
