Kandy Esala Perahera to parade streets tonight

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The inaugural Kumbal Perahara of the Esala Perahera at the Temple of the tooth in Kandy is all set to commence on Monday evening (21). 

As the city prepares to witness this grand spectacle, Kandy Urban Commissioner Ishan Wijethilaka says that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for the devotees attending the procession. 

He adds that a team of approximately 600 government officials has been tasked to ensure a smooth experience for all attendees. 

Furthermore, water distribution through Bowsers will cater to the needs of participants in this regard as well.

In tandem with the festivities, the Sri Lanka Transport Board will launch a special bus service to accommodate the influx of visitors during the Esala Perahera. 

Chairman of the board Lalith De Alwis announced that a fleet of around 350 buses will be operational throughout the duration of the Perahera.
