One dead, 23 injured in Thulhiriya accident

COLOMBO (News 1st); One woman died and 23 others have sustained injuries in an accident in Thulhiriya, Warakapola on Wednesday (2) morning.

Police said three people admitted to hospital are in critical condition.

Medical Superintendent of the Warakapola Base Hospital DMML Amjad said they will be transferred to the Colombo National Hospital.

The accident took place when a Sri Lanka Transport Board bus travelling from Ambepussa to Alawwa crashed head-on with a cement transport truck travelling in the opposite direction.

Police said the driver of the lorry was arrested.
