President on national security strategy

President emphasizes the critical need for a comprehensive review of the country’s national security strategy

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Ranil Wickramasinghe said that a review of the country's national security is expected and attention will be paid to all factors including new economic trends and climate change.

President also said that Sri Lanka should move forward without getting caught up in the power struggles across the world. He also said that he hopes to conduct a review of the future national security of the country because Sri Lanka is now involved in world politics.

The President said that a team headed by retired Major General Channa Gunathilaka has been appointed for that purpose and after receiving the report he will take steps to prepare modern security policies of the National Security Council.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe expressed these views while addressing the President's Color Presentation Ceremony to the Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Navy held at the Bussa Advanced Naval Training Center yesterday (18) afternoon.
