(VIDEO) Chaos at Manning Market as police block protest

COLOMBO (News 1st); Chaos broke out at the Manning Market in Peliyagoda, Colombo on Wednesday (26) when police arrested six people for engaging in a protest while defying a court order. 

News 1st correspondents reported that the protest took place against the decision that was taken to offer shop space at the Manning Market to traders from other economic centers.

When the protest was launched on Wednesday (26) morning, Sri Lanka Police informed the group that a court order was obtained preveting from any protest taking place at the premises.

A senior police officer who visited the scene informed the protestors that another faction was against the protest, and that complaints have been filed against the protest from taking place as well.

However, the protestors defied the order and continued with their protest.

Thereafter, Sri Lanka Police arrested six people for violating a court order and engaging in a protest.
