Paddy purchasing for the Yala season commences

COLOMBO (News 1st); Paddy purchases for the Yala season have commenced.

Chairman of the Paddy Marketing Board Buddhika Iddamalgoda said paddy purchases commenced in the Ratnapura, Hambantota, Monaragala, Batticaloa and Kilinochchi districts.

He added that Rs.500 million has been allocated for this purpose.

However, farmers in many areas claimed they are suffering due to the lack of a proper price for their harvest.
