Over 1000 lives lost due to accidents reported in 2023

COLOMBO(News 1st): Sri Lanka Police says that so far for the year 2023 - 1190 people have lost their lives due to accidents.

Police spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa says that 1126 fatal accidents have been report so far.

He pointed that most of the accidents have occured due to the negligence of drivers.

Meanwhile, on the 9th of July 11 people lost their lives after a bus plunged into the Kotaleeya canal when it was travelling on the Kotaleeya bridge in Manampitiya, Polonnaruwa.

Sri Lanka Police says that 40 people suffered injuries from the incident.
