Hambantota International Port secures contract for 13 Indian Cruise Ships, expanding cruise services in the Indian Ocean

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Hambantota International Port has secured a contract to accommodate 13 Indian cruise ships, scheduled to arrive between June 2023 and September 2024.

Johnson Liu, the Chief Executive Officer of Hambantota International Port, made an announcement emphasizing the port's readiness to provide comprehensive services to a wide range of cruise ships, from economy class to luxurious vessels.

The announcement highlights that both Indian and international tourists will have the opportunity to enjoy cruise ship services from Chennai to Hambantota.

As per the agreements, the first ship carrying 745 passengers is slated to arrive in Sri Lanka from India, initiating the series of arrivals. These ships will navigate through three other major shipping destinations within the country.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Port further says that Hambantota International Port offers the best facilities for cruise ships in the Indian Ocean region.
