Heavy rainfall expected tonight (5); Landslide early warnings extended

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Met Department said that over 75 mm of rainfall can be expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western, Northern, Eastern, and Southern provinces.

Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere at night.

Sri Lanka's Met Department warned that strong winds about 40–50 kilometers per hour (kmph) can be expected at times over western and Southern coastal areas.

General public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Landslide early warnings issued to several divisional secretariats in the Badulla, Kegalle, Galle, Matara and Matale districts remains in effect until Friday (5) evening.
