Preparations for G.C.E. O/L Exams: Security arrangements in place

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Examinations assures the public that comprehensive security arrangements have been meticulously put in place for the upcoming 2022 GCE OL Examination. Commissioner General of Examinations, Amith Jayasundara, confirms that the assistance of the armed forces, including the police, will play a crucial role in ensuring a secure environment for the examination.

To address any unforeseen circumstances, the Commissioner General of Examinations assures that contingency plans have been established to handle emergencies throughout the examination period.

Remarkably, this year, ten inmates will also be among the participants of the GCE OL examination. Chandana Ekanayake, the Prison Spokesman, reveals that five inmates from Watareka Prison and five from Welikada Prison have been granted the opportunity to sit for the examination. Notably, one of the candidates from Welikada Prison is serving a life sentence.

The GCE OL examination is scheduled to commence tomorrow, signaling a crucial milestone for the candidates involved. With a total of 472,553 applicants, distributed across 3,568 examination centers
