Man dies in firework explosion

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A person has died after sustaining serious injuries in an accident caused by a firework explosion in Thekkawatta in ​​Thambuththegama.

Police said the explosion had taken place when the individual tried to light a firework at a wedding held in the area.

In repeated attempts to light the firework canister, it exploded and caused serious damage to his head. 

He had died while receiving treatment in hospital.

The deceased is a 31-year-old resident of Thambuththegama.
