Sri Lanka Church leads Human Chain for truth on Easter Bombings

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankans on Friday (21) formed a human chain in their quest for justice for the victims of the 2019 Easter Sunday Terror Attacks.

The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith invited all Sri Lankan from all faiths to form a human chain protest (Jana Paura) on Friday (21), to support the Church’s quest for truth and justice over the attacks.

On 21st April 2019, suicide bombers carried out the most brutal attack in recent Sri Lankan history, and that dark day will never be forgotten by Sri Lankans around the world.

The bitter memories of the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks continue to haunt many in Sri Lanka and across the globe.

The 21st of April, 2019, was just another Sunday and the Catholic Community proceed to Churches to attend Easter Sunday Mass.

An explosion rocked St.Sebastian's Church,Katuwapitiya in Negombo.

Thereafter, similar explosions were reported from several other locations.

Explosion had rocked  St. Anthony's Shrine - Kochchikade, Zion Church - Batticaloa, the Kingsbury Hotel - Colombo, Shangri-La Hotel - Colombo, Cinnamon Grand Hotel - Colombo and the Tropical Inn in Dehiwala.

More than 250 Sri Lankans who visited the Churches for Sunday Mass were killed.
