Semasinghe meets IMF & World Bank teams in DC to discuss reforms, and recovery

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe is in Washington, DC, USA for the 2023 IMF - World Bank Spring meetings.

Over the week, Sri Lankan officials will meet and engage with all its partners to enhance economic recovery and long term stability.

Shenan Semasinghe said he held a positive discussion with Anne Bjerde, the Managing Director for Operations at the World Bank on Sri Lanka's reform agenda and how it will support economic recovery. 

Semasinghe appreciated the continued support of the World Bank to strengthen the social safety nets and economic stabilization of Sri Lanka.

He also met with the Executive Director of the IMF Dr. Krishnamurthy Subramanian to discuss Sri Lanka’s ambitious reform agenda and commitment to successfully completing the IMF program.

State Minister Shehan Semasinghe also held an interaction with the World Bank team specialized in social safety net interventions, cash transfer programs & developing effective delivery systems.
