CAA increases raids during festive season

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Consumer Affairs Authority said that legal action was instituted against over 1,500 trades for multiple offenses including the sale of products at exorbitant prices, and for concealing stocks. 

The Consumer Affairs Authority said it increased the number of raids during the festive holiday season to trace traders who sell food items that are not suitable for consumption, products at exorbitant prices, and for concealing stocks. 

It added that all CAA officers have been instructed to pay close attention to the sale of eggs, noting that poultry farms will also be raided in the future.

The Consumer Affairs Authority said that special teams were deployed to conduct raids during the festive holiday season.

It added that CAA officers are even taking part in raids during the holidays, and at night.
