Passport services to resume on Tuesday (14); Special Notice for those with appointments

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Immigration and Emigration said that the process of issuing passports will recommence on Tuesday (14), and Harsha Ilukpitiya, the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration told News 1st that the system issue experienced on Monday (13) has been rectified.

The Controller General of Immigration and Emigration in a statement via the Department of Government Information requested those who have booked appointments to obtain a passport on Tuesday (14) to report to the Department on Wednesday (15).

He added that those who booked appointments for Wednesday (15) are requested to report to the Department on Thursday (16).

Further, those who booked appointments for Friday (17), are requested to report to the Department on Saturday (18).

The statement further noted that the passports for applications submitted on Monday (13) will be issued after noon on Tuesday (14).

Those who cannot visit the Department and obtain their passport will have their passports sent by courier to their residences.

Passport services at the Department of Immigration and Emigration were delayed on Monday (13) due to a system issue.

Harsha Ilukpitiya, the Controller General of the Immigration and Emigration Department, told News 1st that an issue arose with the system at around 10:30 AM.

A large number of people who visited the department to obtain single-day services with regard to their passports were severely inconvenienced by this delay.
