Moldovan government resigns in wake of multiple crises

COLOMBO (News 1st) - After 18 months of political and economic turmoil, Moldova's government has collapsed, and its Prime Minister has resigned.

Europe's poorest country was dealing with "multiple crises," outgoing Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said on Friday (10).

Moldova has faced inflation, high energy prices, a refugee influx, and Russian aggression as a result of the war in neighboring Ukraine.

The announcement came just hours after Russian missiles flew over Moldovan territory.
