COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) announced that the internal investigation committee report regarding the island-wide power outage on December 9th is expected to be submitted within three weeks.
CEB Spokesperson Engineer Noel Priyantha confirmed that the committee, chaired by an Additional General Manager of the CEB, is nearing completion of its investigation.
The report will focus on:
Fact-finding: Examining the root cause and sequence of events leading to the outage.
Procedure analysis: Reviewing the actions and decisions made by CEB personnel during the incident.
Recommendations: Proposing measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Meanwhile, a separate external investigation committee, appointed by the Ministry of Power and Energy, is also progressing with its technical inquiries.
This committee is comprised of academic experts from Sri Lankan universities.
This committee will determine the technical origin and contributing factors to the outage, evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the power restoration process, and recommend strategies to minimize or avoid future disruptions.
