COLOMBO (News 1st); Wildlife officers across Sri Lanka reported in sick leave on Monday (18), effectively taking part in a one-day token strike over concerns regarding their safety and service evaluations.
The All-Ceylon Integrated Wildlife Officers Association (ACIWOA) confirmed the action, highlighting several demands from its members.
ACIWOA President Prabhash Karunathilaka stated that the strike stems from concerns surrounding "ensuring the safety of wildlife officers and not evaluating their service based on metrics not conducive to ground realities."
The wildlife officers are urging the government to take concrete steps towards "further increasing the security of the national reserves," according to Karunathilaka.
