COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government Radiological Technologists Association has reported that the CT scan machine at the Ratnapura Teaching Hospital has been inactive for over a month, impacting patient care.
According to Government Radiological Technologists Association chairman, Chanaka Dharmawickrama, the malfunctioning machine has caused disruption for many patients seeking vital diagnostic scans.
In response to inquiries from News First, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena acknowledged the issue and confirmed plans to provide a new CT scan machine for the hospital.
Dr. Gunawardena also reported a delay in delivering a new x-ray machine to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital's emergency unit.
He attributed the delay to a price increase by the supplier, necessitating additional approval procedures before the purchase could be finalized.
