Over 7,000 affected by heavy rains, says DMC

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Disaster Management Center says that 7,061 people have been affected by the ongoing heavy rains. 

The DMC adds that this includes 2,271 families.

Due to the extreme rainy conditions, 33 houses have been partially damaged.

The Disaster Management Center says that 700 people belonging to 212 families have been relocated to safe places.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Center says that the Somavathiya Road in Polonnaruwa has been flooded due to rain. Due to this, the movement of light vehicles along the road has been restricted.
