Dengue cases continue to rise

COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Dengue Control Unit said an increase in dengue cases has been reported in several areas.

Its director Specialist Dr. Nalin Ariyaratne said an increase in dengue cases was reported in Galle, Badulla, Kurunegala and Puttalam.

Due to inter-monsoon showers, an increase in dengue patients was also reported from Kandy.

Dr. Ariyaratne said the number of cases being reported has not reduced despite dengue control programs being held in the area.

The number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka has exceeded 80,000, with a majority of cases reported from the Western Province.​
