COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan authorities transported a staggering 107 kilograms of seized narcotics from the Western Provincial High Court to Puttalam for destruction.

This haul was unearthed during operations mounted by the combined efforts of the Police Narcotics Bureau, the Special Task Force, and the Navy.

The event witnessed the presence of Acting Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakoon, Police Media Spokesman Nihal Talduwa, and officers from the Police Narcotics Division.

Tales of illegal repurposing and recirculation have sparked public anxieties, casting a shadow of doubt on the effectiveness of law enforcement efforts.

"While a portion of the seized drugs are currently undergoing testing, adhering to outdated legal frameworks prevents their immediate destruction," stated said the Acting Police Chief Deshabandu Thennakoon.

The scheduled destruction of this substantial quantity of drugs in Puttalam will take place on Thursday (14) evening.
