Railway operations along Up Country Railway Line disrupted

COLOMBO (News 1st); Train operations along the Up Country Railway Line have been disrupted due to the collapse of a mound of earth on the railway line near the Diyatalawa railway station.

The Railway Control Room said as a result, the night mail train plying from Colombo to Badulla was stopped at the location, while measures are being taken to clear the tracks.

In the meantime, the Department of Irrigation said several reservoirs in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts have reached spill level, with the heavy showers experienced in the Eastern Province.
