Mathews given OUT for taking over two minutes to face 1st ball

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews was the victim of one of the strangest and rarest dismissals in cricket.

According to the commentators, Matthews was TIMED OUT!

Angelo Mathews was sent back to the pavilion without facing a single ball.

"TIMED OUT! Probably it's the first I've ever come across. Mathews tried to plead his case." said the commentators also in disbelief as a disgruntled Mathews walked back to the team hut, and was seen throwing his helmet on the ground after crossing the ropes.

So here is what happened: Matthews came in but was not happy with the helmet he has. He wanted it to be changed and out came the other one.

But in the meantime Bangladesh appealed for timed out and Angelo Mathews HAS BEEN TIMED OUT! He has to walk back without even facing a ball.

Mathews pleaded his case but in the end, he has been given OUT!

The rule is, a batter has to face a ball within two minutes after coming out and that was not the case.
