COLOMBO (News 1st); Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne was granted another service extension of three weeks, said the Police Spokesperson on Friday (3).

The previous three-week service extension granted to Sri Lanka's Chief of Police C. D. Wickremeratne ended on Thursday (2).

IGP Wickremeratne has already enjoyed two service extensions of three months each, and an additional service extension of three weeks.

Recently, President Ranil Wickremesinghe sought the permission of the constitutional council to extend the service of the IGP by three weeks.

The constitutional council had noted that its approval was not necessary to award a service extension to the Chief of Police.
