Sri Lanka surpasses 70,000 dengue cases for 2023

Over 70,000 dengue cases: 5-day special dengue control program organized

Due to the increase in daily dengue cases, Dr. Nalin Ariyaratne, Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, has announced that a 5-day special dengue control program will be organized today in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara. 

Dr. Ariyaratne stated that the current rainfall could lead to a future increase in dengue cases. 

The Dengue Control Unit strongly advises residents to remove potential mosquito breeding sites in their surroundings. 

As of today, the total number of dengue cases reported across the island has surpassed 70,000, with 2,300 cases reported this month alone.
