Dinesh Schaffter was murdered, says Colombo Court

COLOMBO (News 1st); A Colombo court has ruled the death of late businessman, Dinesh Schaffter, as an act of murder.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya announcing the ruling on Wednesday (1) after considering the reports submitted by the  5-member investigative committee comprising Judicial and forensic medical experts that was appointed to deduce the cause of death of the late Sri Lankan businessman.

It was announced in court that Dinesh Schaffter died due to pressure applied to his neck and face.

Therefore, the Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya ordered the Criminal Investigations Department to consider the death of the late-businessman as a murder, and conduct the necessary investigations.

On the 15th of December 2022, Schaffter was found with his hand tied and strangled inside his own car at the Public Cemetery in Borella, and according to the family, he died that night in hospital.
