Local government payments online from 2024

COLOMBO (News 1st); The State Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government said measures will be taken to make all local government payments online.

State Minister Janaka Wakkambura said the pilot project has been implemented successfully.

He added that people will be able to make various payments including taxes efficiently, under this program.

The State Minister said the program aims to increase the tax revenue and reduce the inconvenience caused to the public.

The new system will be implemented from the 1st of January, 2024 .
