Water levels of Mahaweli reservoirs rise

COLOMBO (News 1st); The water levels of the Mahaweli reservoirs have risen to 46 percent due to the showers experienced in the country.

The Director (Water Management Secretariat) of the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka Nilantha Danapala said the water capacity of the Kotmale reservoir has increased to 77 percent and the capacity of the Victoria reservoir has increased to 44 percent. 

Water is being released for the Maha season, and Dinapala said the process is due to be completed by the 1st of November.

He requested farmers to commence harvesting based on the relevant schedule.
