Excise Department earns highest annual revenue in 2022

Colombo (News 1st) - The Department of Excise earned its highest annual revenue in 2022.

Last year the Department earned Rs.170 billion.

Deputy Commissioner of the Excise Department Kapila Kumarasinghe said this year's target revenue is Rs.217 billion.

The Excise Department recorded the highest income last year, against the backdrop of having vacancies for 200 employees.

Meanwhile a programme is underway to provide quality certifications for locally produced alcohol.

Kumarasinghe said many types of alcohol in the market were issued quality certificates.
