The protest has now ended.

The protest was organized in line with President Ranil Wickremesinghe's visit to the Nallur Kovil in Jaffna for Thai Pongal celebrations. Our News 1st Correspondent says that the protest march began from the Jaffna University and proceeded towards the Nallur Kovil.

The march was met with police presence at the Arasi Adi road, where water cannons were fired to disperse them. The protest march was organized to demand justice for the families of the disappeared during the time of the civil war.

It was organized by civil rights groups and the families of the disappeared. While barricades have been set up and security beefed up as the operation to disperse the protest is being carried out, the protest still continues.
