Driver steers bus to the side of a mountain as brakes fail, averts mishap

COLOMBO (News 1st) : A Sri Lankan Bus Driver has been called a hero after he managed to steer the bus downhill with malfunctioning brakes to avoid falling into a precipice.

The incident had taken place on Monday (30) morning, and the bus belong to the SLTB operating from Badulla to Colombo via Diyathalawa.

The hero bus driver told News 1st that he realized the brakes were not working when the bus was proceeding pass the Viharagala area in Bergala, Haputhale at around noon.

Around 60 passengers were aboard the bus at the time, and he managed to steer the bus along the tricky road to safety without causing any injury. 

The driver managed to steer the bus along side the mountain until it came to a stop.
