India squad for Sri Lanka tour announced;

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The BCCI Selection Committee has picked India’s squads for the upcoming Sri Lanka Tour of India to be held in January 2023. 

The tour comprises three T20Is and as many ODIs.

While the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul won’t feature in three T20Is, they have been picked in the ODI squad.

Rohit Sharma will captain India for the ODIs, while all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been appointed as captain Rohit’s deputy for the 50-over series while Rishabh Pant is a notable exclusion from the squad.

For the ODI series, Shikhar Dhawan has been axed from the squad, which features Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shreyas Iyer as batters. Ishan Kishan is the designated wicketkeeper in the squad besides Rahul.

Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar are the spin-bowling all-rounders in the squad while Kuldeep Yadav is there as a premier spinner.

Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik, and Arshdeep Singh are India’s pace-bowling options for the ODI series.
