Five inmates breakout of Vavuniya rehab center

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Five inmates have escaped from the Protective Accommodation & Rehabilitation Centre (PARC) in Poonthoddam, Vavuniya.

Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi told News 1st the inmates were between the ages of 22 & 30, and a manhunt is underway to locate them.

In addition, a manhunt continues to locate seven inmates who fled the Kandakadu Treatments and Rehabilitation Center following a recent brawl at the premises.

225 inmates responsible for the brawl were arrested and remanded.
